Installing UYT-24 Floor/Ceiling/Low-Wall Systems: Getting StartedUpdated 3 hours ago

Introduction

This article provides an overview of the installation process for the Quantum Ultra Floor/Ceiling/Low-Wall Flex (UYT-24) system.

Each section in this article represents a step in the installation process. Click the link in each section to learn about that specific step.

Before beginning the installation, refer to the label on the product box to ensure the model number of the indoor unit matches the model number of the outdoor unit.

1. Selecting the Installation Location for the Indoor & Outdoor Units

We recommend understanding the criteria for selecting ideal locations for the indoor and outdoor units.

  • Read this article for guidelines on selecting the ideal installation locations for your indoor and outdoor units.

2. Installing the Indoor Unit

First, determine whether to floor-mount or ceiling-mount the indoor unit. Next, drill the wall hole for the piping, and connect the condensate drain hose and communication cable. Finally, wire the indoor unit to the outdoor unit, and wrap the lines and mount the indoor unit.

  • Read this article for information on floor mounting the indoor unit.
  • View this article for the procedure on ceiling mounting the indoor unit.
  • Follow these steps on drilling the piping hole.
  • Read our article on installing the condensate drain hose.

  • Follow these steps on wrapping the lines and mounting the indoor unit.

3. Installing the Outdoor Unit

Next, prepare the drain line for the outdoor unit, and then mount the unit.

  • View this article for information on installing the optional drain joint for the outdoor unit.
  • Read this article to learn about mounting the outdoor unit.
  • Follow these steps on installing the drain hose for the outdoor unit.

4. Connecting the Refrigerant Pipes

Once the indoor and outdoor units are installed, connect the refrigerant pipes.

  • Read this article for information on connecting the refrigerant pipes.

5. Connecting the Communication Cable

Connect the communication cable for the system, starting with the outdoor unit wires followed by the indoor unit wires.

The 4-lead communication cable provides two power supply wires, one signal wire, and ground wire. The wires are individually insulated and bundled together inside the outer protective jacket. These wires are also pre-fitted with U-lugs on their ends.

  • Read our article for information on connecting the cable.

6. Evacuating the Refrigerant Circuit

Use a vacuum pump and manifold gauge to evacuate the refrigerant circuit, removing any non-condensable gas and moisture from the system.

Qualified and well-trained personnel must complete the evacuation of the refrigerant circuit.

  • Read this article for instructions on evacuating the refrigerant circuit.

7. Performing a Test Run

Perform the test run after the entire system has been completely installed. Failure to perform the test run may result in unit damage, property damage, or personal injury.

  • Read this article for instructions on performing a test run.
