Install Outdoor Units: Getting StartedUpdated 3 days ago

Introduction

This article provides an overview of the installation process for most of our outdoor units. This article excludes the installation process for Vertex Ducted Central Split systems, which is different from the other outdoor units.

Each section in this article represents a step in the installation process. Click the link in each section to learn about that specific step.

This article is for the following systems:

Select an Ideal Location for Installation

Before beginning, we recommend understanding how to select an ideal location for installing the outdoor unit.

Click this link for information.

1. Mount the Outdoor Unit

Begin by mounting the outdoor unit either on a pad, solid wall, ground, or concrete mounting platform. The anchoring dimensions for the brackets vary per system.

2. Set Up the Condensate Water Drainage

This step is optional and only needed if the default configuration of the water drainage from the port on the bottom side is not desired. Install the drain joint and drainpipe to direct away the condensate water.

3. Connect the Electrical Wiring

Next, connect the electrical wiring for the outdoor unit. The outdoor units require specific gauge wires, depending on the type of system. Connect the wires in accordance with the wiring diagrams.

4. Connect the Refrigerant Piping

Connect the refrigerant piping to the outdoor unit. The specifications of the refrigerant piping vary per system. The length of the refrigerant piping will affect the performance and energy efficiency of the unit.

5. Air Evacuation & Bleed the Circuit

Finish the installation process by performing the air evacuation and bleeding the circuit. The air and humidity left inside the refrigeration circuit can contaminate the refrigerant and cause abnormal spikes in pressure.

After the Installation is Completed

We recommend performing a running inspection after the installation is completed. For information on performing the test run, click this link
