Select the Installation Location for Outdoor UnitsUpdated 10 hours ago

Introduction

This article explains how to select the ideal installation location for outdoor units.

Installation Guidelines

Select an outdoor unit location that meets these standards:

  • Ensure good air circulation and ventilation.
  • Choose a firm, solid surface that supports the unit and prevents vibration.
  • Avoid areas where noise from the unit will disturb others.
  • Protect the unit from prolonged periods of direct sunlight or rain.
  • Take appropriate measures to prevent ice buildup and coil damage in areas with anticipated snowfall.

Do not install the outdoor unit in the following locations:

  • Areas with obstacles that block air inlets and outlets.
  • Public streets, crowded areas, or spaces where unit noise will disturb others.
  • Areas near animals or plants that could be harmed by hot air discharge.
  • Areas near any source of combustible gas.
  • Locations exposed to large amounts of dust.
  • Locations exposed to excessive salty air.

Special Considerations for Extreme Weather:

  • If the unit is exposed to heavy wind: Install the unit so that the air outlet fan is at a 90-degree angle to the wind direction. If necessary, build a barrier in front of the unit to protect it from extremely strong winds.
  • If the unit is frequently exposed to heavy rain or snow: Build a shelter above the unit to protect it from rain or snow, ensuring the airflow is not obstructed.
  • If the unit is frequently exposed to salty air (seaside): Use an outdoor unit specifically designed for corrosion resistance.
