Does the Fan Ever Shut Off in Cooling Mode?Updated 7 days ago

Constantly Running Fan Motor in Cool Mode

Pioneer mini splits are high technology variable speed digital inverter systems. They do not work like the older analog on-off systems. Therefore, the fan must run continually for properly sampling of the zone's air room temperature and adjusting the compressor speed and output based on the room's heat loads.

This will help maintain a consistent airflow, ensuring even distribution of cooled or heated air throughout the space and prevents temperature variations, resulting in more comfortable and consistent indoor conditions. The fan only uses ~15 watts of power and is made to run under continuous duty. It will slow down under minimal loads along with the compressor to prioritize minimal energy consumption.

Only in heat mode will the fan enter a standby phase as it awaits the coil to warm up to temperature before blowing. This will also prevent cold air being deposited into the room during defrost cycles.

Rather than using an "all or nothing" approach like traditional central AC units, this technology allows the mini-split to adjust its output to fit what the environment is calling for, permitting greater energy efficiency and a long lifespan.
