Create the Ceiling Opening & Install the Hanging Hook for Ceiling Cassette Indoor UnitsUpdated 3 days ago
Introduction
This article explains how to create the ceiling opening and install the hanging hook for ceiling cassette indoor units. This is the first step in the installation process for ceiling cassette indoor units.
The article begins by explaining the procedure for creating the ceiling opening, then it goes over how to install the hanging hook for the unit. Installation methods for the hanging hook may vary depending on the structure of the ceiling.
This article is for the following system:
Create the Ceiling Opening
Before creating the opening, ensure that the ceiling can support the weight of the unit. If needed, consult a qualified professional for structural evaluations and specific guidance. For information on the dimensions and weights of the different ceiling cassette models, see this article.
Cut the ceiling opening according to the illustrations shown below.

After creating the opening, confirm that the ceiling is level and structurally reinforced to prevent vibration. For ceilings with wooden joists, use an angle iron or Unistrut channels. Cut and remove any obstructing beams within the area of the ceiling opening.
Reinforce the surrounding structure to compensate for the removed beams and support the weight of the unit. It may be necessary to add extra support.
Install the Hanging Bolt
Use four 3/8-inch threaded hanging bolts as well as eight washers and nuts to suspend the indoor unit. The hanging bolts are not included with the system.
Depending on the unit size, the center-to-center distance between the bolts must match the specifications provided.

Mounting Methods
Finished Concrete (Brick or Slab)
- Use the expansion bolts to fix the hanging hooks directly into the concrete.
- Drill a hole to a depth of 1-3/4 to 2 inches (45-50 mm) to ensure proper anchoring.

New Concrete Bricks
- Use one of the following methods to embed the screw bolts:
- Blade-type insertion
- Slide-in channel insertion
- Make sure that the screw bolts are anchored firmly into the embedded steel reinforcements bars.

Steel Roof Beam Structure
- Install the supporting angle steel brackets.
- Mount the hanging bolts through the brackets and secure them as shown below:

Wooden Construction
- Secure the angle iron across the wooden joints.
- Secure the hanging screw bolts through the channel and into the ceiling structure.
