Can I buy a Pioneer system that only offers cooling?Updated 6 hours ago
No. All of our systems are heat pumps, meaning the systems offer heating and cooling. We do not carry AC-only units. However, you can disable the heat function if it is not needed.
While you may feel installing a heat pump is an unnecessary added expense if you don't need heating, it usually is not worthwhile having a cooling-only system. This is because it’s only an incremental cost to turn an air conditioner into a heat pump. Air conditioners can turn into heat pumps by adding an inexpensive mechanism called a reversing valve. In addition, heat pumps tend to have more innovative technology, allowing its efficiency to be greater than cooling-only units.
To summarize, the small incremental cost to get a heat pump instead of a cooling-only air conditioner will pay itself back.
