Measure the grounding resistance by visual detection or with a grounding resistance tester. Grounding resistance must be less than 4&#x2126;. This may not be required in some locations.&#xA0;</li><li>Confirm that all electrical wiring is safe, operating correctly, and installed in accordance with local and national regulations and the installation manual.&#xA0;</li><li>Confirm there is no gas leakage by checking all the flare nut connections. Use one of these methods:&#xA0;<ul><li>Soap and Water Method:&#xA0;Use a soft brush to apply soapy water or liquid detergent to all pipe connection points on the indoor and outdoor units. The presence of bubbles indicates a leak.&#xA0;</li><li>Leak Detector Method:&#xA0;If using a leak detector, refer to the device&apos;s operation manual for proper usage instructions.</li></ul></li><li>Confirm that both the gas and liquid valves (high/low) are 100% fully opened.&#xA0;</li></ul>Safety Checks During Test Run<ul><li>Check for electrical leakage.&#xA0;</li><li>Use an electroprobe and multimeter to perform a comprehensive electrical leakage test.&#xA0;</li><li>If electrical leakage is detected, turn off the unit immediately and call a licensed electrician to find and resolve the cause of the leakage. This may not be required in some locations.&#xA0;</li></ul><h2 id="test-run">Test Run</h2>Perform the test run for 30 minutes.<ol><li>Connect the power to the unit.&#xA0;</li><li>Press the On/Off button on the remote controller to turn it on.&#xA0;</li><li>Press the Mode button to scroll through the following functions, one at a time:&#xA0;<ul><li>Cooling - Select the lowest possible temperature.</li><li>Heating - Select the highest possible temperature.&#xA0;<ul><li>If outside temperatures are too high to permit turning on Heating mode, complete the following:&#xA0;<ul><li>A. Turn the unit on and put it in Heating mode using the emergency button.&#xA0;</li><li>B. Run the Heating mode test as normal and turn the unit back off using the button when complete.&#xA0;</li></ul></li></ul></li></ul></li><li>Let each function run for 5 minutes and perform the following checks:&#xA0;<ul><li>No electrical leaks or abnormal noises.&#xA0;</li><li>The unit is properly grounded.&#xA0;</li><li>All electrical terminals are properly covered.&#xA0;</li><li>Indoor and outdoor units are securely installed.&#xA0;</li><li>All pipe connection points do not leak.&#xA0;</li><li>Water drains from the drain hose properly.&#xA0;</li><li>All piping is properly insulated.&#xA0;</li><li>The indoor unit responds to the remote controller.&#xA0;</li><li>The indoor unit louvers work properly.&#xA0;</li><li>The system works in both Heating and Cooling mode.&#xA0;</li></ul></li><li>Double check all pipe connections. During the operation, the pressure of the refrigerant circuit will increase. This may reveal leaks that were not present during the initial leak check. Take time during the test run to double-check that all copper pipe connection points are leak-free. The Cooling mode pressure should be 120-155 PSI. The Heating mode pressure should be 320-450 PSI.&#xA0;</li></ol><h2 id="after-the-test-run">After the Test Run</h2>After the 10 checks are completed and marked as passed, perform the following operation:&#xA0;<ol><li>Use the remote controller to return the system to a normal desired operating temperature.&#xA0;</li><li>Use the insulation tape to wrap the indoor unit&apos;s refrigerant pipe connections that were left uncovered during the installation process.&#xA0;</li></ol>

<h2 id="introduction">Introduction</h2>This article explains how to evacuate the air conditioner&apos;s refrigerant circuit.&#xA0;Air and foreign matter in the refrigerant circuit can lead to abnormal rises in pressure, which can damage the appliance, reduce its efficiency, and cause injury.&#xA0;Use a vacuum pump and manifold gauge to evacuate the refrigerant circuit, removing any non-condensable gas and moisture from the system.&#xA0;Perform the evacuation after the initial installation and when relocating the system.&#xA0;<h2 id="prerequisites">Prerequisites&#xA0;</h2><ul><li style="font-size: 16px;">Confirm the pipes connecting the indoor and outdoor units are properly attached.&#xA0;</li><li style="font-size: 16px;">Ensure all electrical wiring is connected properly.</li></ul><h2 id="steps">Steps</h2>1. Remove the caps from the 2-way and 3-way valves, but do not manipulate the valves until step 11.&#xA0;<img src="https://attachments.gorgias.help/Q9r0k7BYaV2vg13y/hc/9JWjXVxG8m6DvMqm/2026041720-5cab82d2-d321-4ede-8c9f-72b8213f3bcd-air_evacuation_2way_3way_valves.png" style="width: 500px;" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-bordered">2. Unscrew and remove the cap from the service port.&#xA0;3. Connect the manifold gauge&apos;s charge hose to the service port of the outdoor unit&apos;s low-pressure valve.&#xA0;4. Connect another charge hose from the manifold gauge to the vacuum pump.&#xA0;5. Open the manifold gauge&apos;s low-pressure side. Keep the high-pressure side closed.&#xA0;6. Turn on the vacuum pump to evacuate the system.&#xA0;7. Run the vacuum for at least 15 minutes or until the compound meter reads -76cmHG.&#xA0;<img src="https://attachments.gorgias.help/Q9r0k7BYaV2vg13y/hc/9JWjXVxG8m6DvMqm/2026041720-2a861b3f-502d-4353-853c-93ff107bacf7-air_evacuation.png" style="width: 600px;" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-bordered">8. Close the manifold gauge&apos;s low-pressure side, then turn off the vacuum pump.&#xA0;9. Wait 5 minutes, then confirm there has been no change in system pressure.&#xA0;10. If system pressure changes, check for leaks. If it remains stable, unscrew the cap from the high-pressure (packed) valve.11. Insert a hexagonal wrench into the high-pressure (packed) valve and open it by turning the wrench 1/4 turn counterclockwise. Watch the pressure gauge for 1 minute to ensure there is no change in pressure. The pressure gauge should read slightly higher than the atmospheric pressure.&#xA0;13. Remove the charge hose from the service port.&#xA0;14. Use a hexagonal wrench to fully open the high-pressure and low-pressure valves.&#xA0;15. Hand-tighten the caps on all three valves: the service port, high-pressure, and low-pressure. Then, use a torque wrench to tighten them to specification.

New buildings should perform this test before finishing the ceiling.&#xA0;<h2 id="steps">Steps</h2>1. Remove the test cover.&#xA0;2. Add 67.6 ounces (2,000 ml) of water to the tank through the attached tube.&#xA0;3. Turn on the main power switch and run the appliance in Cooling mode.&#xA0;4. Listen for any unusual noises coming from the drain pump.&#xA0;5. Confirm that the water is discharging. It may take up to a minute for the unit to begin draining, depending on the drainpipe.&#xA0;6. Confirm there are no leaks in the piping.&#xA0;7. Stop the appliance. Turn off the main power switch and reinstall the rest cover.&#xA0;
