The gauge of wire used for connections between the ductless mini split indoor and outdoor sections is AWG #16.

The lineset can exit from the side of the indoor unit if you don’t want it to go out through the back or wall.

The 6-foot whip is for the final connection to the condenser, while the 4-lead wire is for the main run between indoor and outdoor units in a mini split system.
