Connect the Drain Hose for Wall-Mounted SystemsUpdated 13 days ago
Introduction
This article explains how to connect the drain hose for wall-mounted systems.
The indoor unit has one drain connection on the left and right side. Either one can be utilized. One side will have a hose connected, while the other is plugged.
By default, the drain hose is attached to the left-hand side of the unit (left when facing the back of the unit). However, it can also be attached to the right-hand side.
The drain hose for Quantum Fresh (WYT-FA) systems can only attached to the right-hand side of the unit. For information on connecting the drain hose for Quantum Fresh systems, see this article.
This article is for the following systems:
Steps
- Attach the drain hose on the same side that the refrigerant piping exits the unit from, ensuring proper drainage.
- Attach any drain hose extensions (sold separately) to the end of the drain hose.
- Wrap the connection point of the drain hose firmly with Teflon tape to create a good seal and prevent leaks.
- For the portion of the drain hose that will remain indoors, wrap it with foam pipe insulation to prevent condensation.
- Remove the air filter and pour a small amount of water into the drain pan to make sure that water flows away from the unit smoothly.

Notes
- Do not kink the drain hose.
- Do not create a water trap (siphon).
- Do not put the end of the drain hose in water or in a container that will collect water.
