dF Code: Defrost Mode

The display shows “dF” when the unit is in defrost mode. This is normal operation, not an error code.

Frost can build up on the outdoor coil in cold or humid conditions. When this happens, the system temporarily switches to defrost mode to clear the frost. During this time, indoor heating may pause briefly, and the outdoor unit may make unusual sounds or release steam. This is normal.

This is normal operation in cold weather. Once the defrost cycle is complete, the system will automatically resume heating.
