Introduction
This article explains how to clean the anti-dust filters for the Quantum Ultra Floor-Ceiling Flex (UYT-24) systems.
Cleaning the anti-dust filters is part of the maintenance required to ensure the system stays efficient. Inspect the anti-dust filters once every two weeks.
Before carrying out any sort of maintenance, ensure that the power supply for the system has been turned off for more than 5 minutes. Wear safety gloves when working on the equipment, due to the sharp aluminum fin edges of the coil.
Note: Accessorial electrostatic or deodorizing filters are not washable and should be replaced every 6 months.
Steps
Follow these steps to properly clean the anti-dust filters:
- Approach the interior unit to reach the filter area and unlatch the grille to swivel outward.
- Gently remove the single anti-dust filter along with the panel grille by sliding it out to the side.
- Clean the filters with warm water (under 113°F/45°C).
- Leave the filters to dry in cool, dry place.
- Re-insert the filter into the same location after it has sufficiently dried.
Interior of the Indoor Air Handler
In addition to the filters, inspect the interior of the indoor unit as well as the inner coil every season. Disconnect the front panel and remove the top hinge where the pegs connect. This will offer easier inspections of the interior and behind the air filters.
Clean the interior with a damp, soft cloth and neutral soaps. Do not use any types of aggressive solvents or detergents. Do not spray water directly near the indoor unit, as it can damage insulation and electrical components.
